At Texas Malinois Alliance, we believe every Belgian Shepherd deserves a loving, knowledgeable home. Adopting a Malinois or Dutch Shepherd is not just bringing home a dog—it’s welcoming a loyal, intelligent, and hardworking companion into your family. Our goal is to help you find the perfect match for your lifestyle while ensuring our dogs thrive in their new forever homes.

We're based in Texas, but our adopters aren't. Adopted dogs travel on a private, USDA-licensed, temperature-controlled transport to pickup points in 14 states. A small transport fee applies.
How the trip works:
1. Before departure. Once your adoption is approved, we reserve your dog's spot on the next run. Transport leaves Texas every two weeks, and every dog gets a veterinary check before boarding.
2. On the road. The trip takes two to three days. Two drivers trade off so the route keeps moving, and trained team members stay with the animals the whole way, so your dog is never left alone. Adult dogs get scheduled breaks, puppies stay safely crated, and stops are kept to fuel and rest for the crew.
3. Pickup day. You meet the transport at a pre-arranged location in your area and take your dog home from there. We'll send you the time and place ahead of the trip.

Adoption Process

Start by filling out our application form. Once received, your Adoption Coordinator we'll reach out to talk more about your application and discuss the adoption process.

Next up is a home visit, scheduled with everyone who will be living with the Belgian Shepherd. One of our dedicated volunteers will drop by to assess your home and yard, ensuring it's a safe and welcoming environment for a Malinois. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any lingering questions and get to know us better.

While we reserve the right to deny applications, our goal is always to find the best match for both you and the Malinois. When approved, we'll guide you through the process of selecting your new companion based on personality and lifestyle, rather than physical traits alone.
Due to many veterinarian offices being booked out for a while, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with a Malinois savvy veterinarian in anticipation of welcoming your new companion in a few weeks or so. Your vet will be able to prescribe heartworm, flea and tick preventative.

We'll set a time to finalize the adoption contract, provide veterinary records (wellness plan, heartworm and fecal test results, history of vaccinations and rabies certificate). Your Belgian Shepherd will come with a martingale, leash, a lifetime microchip registration and a bit of starter food.
Our support doesn't end at the time of adoption! We're here to assist you and your new family member in adjusting and overcoming any challenges that arise, for as long as you need us.
Adoption Fees
The adoption fee for our dogs is approximately $500, which helps cover essential care and services. Every dog from Texas Malinois Alliance comes with:
A lifetime-registered microchip
Up-to-date vaccinations
Health tests and altering
A 6-month ProHeart shot for heartworm prevention
This fee barely covers the cost of vetting, but it ensures every dog is ready to transition into their new home. We’re also committed to supporting adopters by offering training resources and ongoing guidance to help your new family member settle in.
